K Dogg’s Quick Movie Review

Here’s a short review of a recent movie I’ve seen.

Movie: Ben-Hur

Starring: Charlton Heston, Stephen Boyd

Co-starring: Jack Hawkins, Haya Harareet, Hugh Griffith

Rated G

Time: approx. 210 min.

Charlton Heston stars as Judah Ben-Hur a wealthy Jewish guy in Biblical times who lived in Judea while the Cesear and the Romans ruled the land. Judah is imprisioned and sent to operate the giant oars in the Roman navy after an accident. After he rufused to name Jewish patriots, his sister and mother are also imprisioned. Judah vows revenge on his childhood friend that imprisioned him and his family. This is a good movie. It is one of those epic movies that is a bit long at around 3½ hours. It does have about a 5 minute music bit at the beginning of the movie and about a 10 minute intermission. The chariot races scene was pretty nifty. This 1959 movie is number 72 on the AFI Top 100 movies. I would say this movie is worth checking out since it is a classic. Be sure to cut out a big chunk of time to watch this movie.
