K Dogg’s Quick Movie Review

Here’s a short review of a recent movie I’ve seen.

Movie: Citizen Kane

Starring: Orson Welles

Co-starring:

Rated NR

Time: approx. 119 min.

Orson Welles starred in, directed, produced, and co-wrote this movie which sits on top of the AFI Top 100 Movies List. Another interesting fact is that Orson Welles was only 25 when he made this movie and that it was his film debut. Welles plays the role of Charles Foster Kane, an extremely rich newspaper owner that builds his own business empire. Kane also dips into the world of politics running for govenor. The movie is about a reporter interviewing the people who knew Kane after his death. The reporter is trying to find out what Kane met by his last word, "Rosebud". The character Kane is apparently based on the newspaper man William Randolph Hearst, whoever he is. For the greatest movie of all time, I didn't think it was that great. From watching the little documentary that came with it is that it was so great due to its use of camera angles, spacing, lighting, etc. In other words, one has to be a true film buff to appreciate it. I would say this movie is worth seeing just so everyone can say they say the greatest film of all time.
