K Dogg’s Quick Movie Review
Here’s a short review of a recent movie I've seen.
Movie: Cocktail
Tom Cruise plays Brian Flannigan, a young, hot shot guy that takes a job as a bartender until he can find a business-type job. He has problems finding a corporate job because he doesn't have a college degree. In his bartending job, Brian is taken under the wing of the veteran bartender played by Bryan Brown. These two bartenders are trying to hit the big time and land a gig that pays the big bucks. The two bartenders are also competitive and always calling out each other's manhood and betting one another. Along the way, Brian falls in love with a good girl played by Elisabeth Shue. Brian managers to screw up his good thing with the true girl that was meant for him. This movie is pretty entertaining. This is the movie that probably made everyone in the 80s want to quit there jobs and run out to become a bartender. Cruise pretty much plays the same role of the young stud that always plays by his own rules that he had in Top Gun, The Color of Money, and Days of Thunder, but he plays it well. Elisabeth Shue does a good job in her role, and she's one of my favorites as the nice girl-next-door character. The ending of the movie is a little weird though. All in all, this is a pretty good movie and worth checking out, especially for the bottle tossing scenes.
