K Dogg’s Quick Movie Review

Here’s a short review of a recent movie I've seen.

Movie: The Cooler

William H. Macy plays Bernie, a guy who has absolutely no luck at all. Bernie is like the character Mush in A Bronx Tale, if you've ever seen that very good movie. In fact, Bernie's luck is so bad, he is employed by an old school casino operator (Alec Baldwin) to bring everyone else's luck down just by playing at the same table. Bernie's life takes a turn for the better when he meets a lady friend, played by Maria Bello. In the secondary story, Ron Livingston plays a young casino manager that is trying to turn the old school casino into one of the newer casinos that are on the Strip in Vegas. I thought this movie was pretty interesting. Any movie that involves casinos and Vegas always gets a shot from me. It is a very dark movie and Alec Baldwin does a very good job playing the old school, no nonsense casino operator. I was a little disappointed that Ron Livingston didn't have a larger role. This movie is worth renting.
