K Dogg’s Quick Movie Review

Here’s a short review of a recent movie I’ve seen.

Movie: The Longest Day

Starring: Robert Mitchum, Sean Connery, Henry Fonda, John Wayne

Co-starring:

Rated G

Time: approx. 178 min.

This movie is about the Allied invansion of Normandy in WWII. This movie was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and it won one or two. This movie has also been described as the greatest war movie of all time, however it did not make the American Film Institute's 100 Greatest American Movies of All Time. It is an interesting movie in that it tries to show the historical event from the point of view of the Axis Powers as well as the Allied. Another interesting note is that there were several different directors making this movie. One director for the German stuff, one director for the British stuff, and so on. I liked that this movie allowed the historical event be enough to make the movie unlike some of today's movies like Pearl Harbor and Saving Private Ryan that use another storyline to kill half on the movie. It is a long movie, like most war movies. I would say it goes fairly fast for 3 hours, but I did sleep through a good share of the first hour. This movie is worth watching if you like historical war movies.
