K Dogg’s Quick Movie Review

Here’s a short review of a recent movie I've seen.

Movie: Miracle

This movie is the story of the 1980 United States Olympic hockey team and their coach Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell). This is the year in which everyone knows the USA team beat the unbeatable Soviet team. This Soviet team was so dominate in hockey at this point that they even beat an All-Star team from the NHL. In fact, this Russian team had been dominating world hockey for the past 15 years. Herb Brooks is picked to put together and coach the team which will participate in the Olympics. He convinces the US Olympic people that to beat the Soviet team, the US team would have to learn a completely new style of hockey. To be able to accomplish this, Brooks believes that the team would have to start training immediately, in June 7 months before the Games. He holds tryouts and assembles his team of current and former college players. Like all other of these feel good movies, no one believes this team can win and no one believes in the coach's training practices. Basically, it's Rocky all over again, another underdog who has to change the style to beat the unbeatable champions. Big surprise, the US team beats the Russians and end up going on to win the next round and win the Gold Medal. This is a very good movie. I think Kurt Russell did a great job. I also liked Herb Brooks' wardrobe. It reminded me greatly of another guy named Herb, Herb Tarlick from WKRP. Everyone should check out this movie. Like watching Rocky, if you aren't inspired by watching this movie, you are a communist.
