This is a 1960 Alfred Hitchcock movie. Possibly Hitchcock's most well known movie. It is about a young woman (Janet Leigh) who decides to steal a lot of cash from her employer so she and her married lover can run off together. On her way to her lover's place, she runs into some bad weather on the road so she is forced to spend the night at the Bates Motel. There she meets the motel's manager, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), who owns and runs the motel with his mother. Well the girl ends up being murdered while staying at the motel. The girl's lover, her sister, and a private investigator all end up going to the motel to try to find out what happened to the missing girl. As more people go to the motel, more people come up missing. This movie is quite suspenseful and has a extremely good surprise ending. If you don't know going into the film, which seems almost impossible since the movie has been out for 40+ years, the ending is awesome. I liked this movie a lot, even though I'm not a big fan of horror type movies. Though Hitchcock movies are more suspense rather than horror. This movie has the extremely famous scene where the girl is stabbed in the shower. The DVD has a long documentary about the film, which I thought was pretty enjoyable. In that you learned an interesting bit of information in that it was the first movie to show a toilet on the big screen. This movie is number 18 on the AFI list and is definitely worth watching.
